| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Austin Saengerrunde Damenchor on the grand |

| 4 | 4 | | occasion of the choral group's 60th anniversary; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Saengerrunde Damenchor was organized in 1959 |

| 6 | 6 | | as part of the Austin Saengerrunde Club, a German singing club |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | known today as one of the oldest cultural organizations in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Austin; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Damenchor, or women's choir, was established |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | to help the club promote interest in the preservation of German |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | song; the choir gained recognition for hosting an annual |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Christmas concert and for performing at the annual German Texan |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Saengerfest of the Deutsch-Texanischer Saengerbund, an event |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | that continues to bring together German choirs from around the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | state each year; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, On May 5, 2019, the Austin Saengerrunde Club is |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | hosting the 73rd Saengertag of the Deutsch-Texanischer |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Saengerbund at the club's historic Saengerrunde Halle; German |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | choirs in Texas will gather to showcase their exceptional talents |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and to promote the preservation of German culture and language in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texas; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Saengerrunde Damenchor are part of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a proud history in Austin, and it is indeed fitting that their |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | beloved Saengerrunde Halle will serve as the venue for the annual |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Saengerfest during the year that marks the choir's 60th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | anniversary; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Austin |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Saengerrunde Damenchor for 60 years of success in promoting |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | German culture and heritage in the Lone Star State and extend to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | all best wishes for a memorable 73rd Saengertag of the |

| 32 | 32 | | Deutsch-Texanischer Saengerbund; and, be it further |
