SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 90
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Austin Saengerrunde Damenchor on the grand
occasion of the choral group's 60th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Saengerrunde Damenchor was organized in 1959
as part of the Austin Saengerrunde Club, a German singing club
known today as one of the oldest cultural organizations in
Austin; and
WHEREAS, The Damenchor, or women's choir, was established
to help the club promote interest in the preservation of German
song; the choir gained recognition for hosting an annual
Christmas concert and for performing at the annual German Texan
Saengerfest of the Deutsch-Texanischer Saengerbund, an event
that continues to bring together German choirs from around the
state each year; and
WHEREAS, On May 5, 2019, the Austin Saengerrunde Club is
hosting the 73rd Saengertag of the Deutsch-Texanischer
Saengerbund at the club's historic Saengerrunde Halle; German
choirs in Texas will gather to showcase their exceptional talents
and to promote the preservation of German culture and language in
Texas; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Saengerrunde Damenchor are part of
a proud history in Austin, and it is indeed fitting that their
beloved Saengerrunde Halle will serve as the venue for the annual
Saengerfest during the year that marks the choir's 60th
anniversary; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Austin
Saengerrunde Damenchor for 60 years of success in promoting
German culture and heritage in the Lone Star State and extend to
all best wishes for a memorable 73rd Saengertag of the
Deutsch-Texanischer Saengerbund; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the choir as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
