A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the employment of health care professionals at public
schools.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 33, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 33.910 to read as follows:
Sec. 33.910. EMPLOYMENT OF HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS. A
school district or open-enrollment charter school shall assign at
least one registered nurse or other health care professional
licensed under Title 3, Occupations Code, to be present at each
campus of the district or school for not less than half of each
school day.
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022
school year.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
