14 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

15 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 92.0563(e), Property Code, is amended to |
---|
16 | 12 | | read as follows: |
---|
17 | 13 | | (e) A justice court may not award a judgment under this |
---|
18 | 14 | | section, including an order of repair, that exceeds $20,000 |
---|
19 | 15 | | [$10,000], excluding interest and costs of court. |
---|
20 | 16 | | SECTION 2. Section 92.0563(e), Property Code, as amended by |
---|
21 | 17 | | this Act, applies only to a cause of action filed on or after the |
---|
22 | 18 | | effective date of this Act. A cause of action filed before that date |
---|
23 | 19 | | is governed by the law in effect immediately before that date, and |
---|
24 | 20 | | that law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
---|
25 | 21 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
---|
