| 9 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 11 | 13 | | is amended by adding Section 225.190 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 14 | | Sec. 225.190. DR. RIC BENNETT, DVM, MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a) |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | The portion of State Highway 171 in Limestone County between the |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | northern municipal limits of Mexia and its intersection with |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | westbound Farm-to-Market Road 73 within the municipal limits of |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | Coolidge is designated as the Dr. Ric Bennett, DVM, Memorial |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | Highway. |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall: |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | (1) design and construct markers indicating the |
|---|
| 20 | 22 | | designation as the Dr. Ric Bennett, DVM, Memorial Highway and any |
|---|
| 21 | 23 | | other appropriate information; and |
|---|
| 22 | 24 | | (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at |
|---|
| 23 | 25 | | appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. |
|---|
| 24 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
