                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             March 21, 2021       TO: Honorable Richard Pea Raymond, Chair, House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB1589 by Davis (Relating to paid leave for public officers and employees engaged in certain military service.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend Chapter 437 of the Government Code to entitle certain public officers and employees who are members of the Texas military forces, a reserve component of the armed forces, or a member of a state or federally authorized urban search and rescue team to a paid leave of absence, if called to active duty during a disaster. Based on the analysis, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources. The bill would take effect September 1, 2021.
