411 AN ACT
512 relating to paid leave for public officers and employees engaged in
613 certain military service.
714 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
815 SECTION 1. Section 437.202, Government Code, is amended by
916 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1017 (a-1) In addition to the leave provided under Subsection
1118 (a), a person described by Subsection (a) called to state active
1219 duty by the governor or another appropriate authority in response
1320 to a disaster is entitled to a paid leave of absence from the
1421 person's duties for each day the person is called to active duty
1522 during the disaster, not to exceed seven workdays in a fiscal year.
1623 During a leave of absence under this subsection, the person may not
1724 be subjected to loss of time, efficiency rating, personal time,
1825 sick leave, or vacation time. For purposes of this subsection,
1926 "disaster" has the meaning assigned by Section 418.004.
2027 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
