95 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
106 AN ACT
117 relating to the use of an electronic recording device to report
128 proceedings before a municipal court of record for the City of San
139 Antonio.
1410 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1511 SECTION 1. Section 30.00226, Government Code, is amended by
1612 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1713 (c) Instead of using a court reporter to preserve a record
1814 in a case, the governing body may authorize the use of a good
1915 quality electronic recording device to report court proceedings. If
2016 the governing body authorizes an electronic recording, the court
2117 reporter is not required to be present to certify the reporter's
2218 record. The recording shall be kept for the 20-day period beginning
2319 the day after the last day of the court proceeding, trial, or denial
2420 of motion for new trial, whichever occurs last. If a case is
2521 appealed, the proceedings shall be transcribed from the recording
2622 by an official court reporter.
2723 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
