| 7 | 14 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 8 | 15 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 9 | 16 | | amended by adding Section 662.114 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 10 | 17 | | Sec. 662.114. UTERINE FIBROIDS AWARENESS MONTH. (a) July |
|---|
| 11 | 18 | | is Uterine Fibroids Awareness Month to increase awareness of |
|---|
| 12 | 19 | | uterine fibroids and to: |
|---|
| 13 | 20 | | (1) encourage education and research on uterine |
|---|
| 14 | 21 | | fibroids; |
|---|
| 15 | 22 | | (2) improve methods for identifying signs and symptoms |
|---|
| 16 | 23 | | of uterine fibroids; |
|---|
| 17 | 24 | | (3) improve methods for preventing, diagnosing, and |
|---|
| 18 | 25 | | treating uterine fibroids; and |
|---|
| 19 | 26 | | (4) encourage the establishment of a public education |
|---|
| 20 | 27 | | campaign that includes health seminars, medical information |
|---|
| 21 | 28 | | panels, community programs, and funding opportunities. |
|---|
| 22 | 29 | | (b) Uterine Fibroids Awareness Month shall be regularly |
|---|
| 23 | 30 | | observed through appropriate programs and activities to increase |
|---|
| 24 | 31 | | awareness of uterine fibroids. |
|---|
| 25 | 32 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
