411 AN ACT
512 relating to the designation of July as Uterine Fibroids Awareness
613 Month.
714 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
815 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
916 amended by adding Section 662.114 to read as follows:
1017 Sec. 662.114. UTERINE FIBROIDS AWARENESS MONTH. (a) July
1118 is Uterine Fibroids Awareness Month to increase awareness of
1219 uterine fibroids and to:
1320 (1) encourage education and research on uterine
1421 fibroids;
1522 (2) improve methods for identifying signs and symptoms
1623 of uterine fibroids;
1724 (3) improve methods for preventing, diagnosing, and
1825 treating uterine fibroids; and
1926 (4) encourage the establishment of a public education
2027 campaign that includes health seminars, medical information
2128 panels, community programs, and funding opportunities.
2229 (b) Uterine Fibroids Awareness Month shall be regularly
2330 observed through appropriate programs and activities to increase
2431 awareness of uterine fibroids.
2532 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
