9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 418.014, Government Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (f) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), the governor may not | |
13 | 13 | declare a state of disaster because of COVID-19. In this | |
14 | 14 | subsection, "COVID-19" means the coronavirus disease 2019. | |
15 | 15 | SECTION 2. As provided by Section 418.014(c), Government | |
16 | 16 | Code, the state of disaster declared by the governor in Tex. Gov. | |
17 | 17 | Proclamation No. 41-3720, 45 Tex. Reg. 2094 (2020), as renewed, is | |
18 | 18 | terminated. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
20 | 20 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
21 | 21 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
22 | 22 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
23 | 23 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
