The bill would amend the Local Government Code to provide for illness or injury leave of absence for county and municipal firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical services personnel.   Local Government ImpactAccording to the Texas Association of Counties, a significant fiscal impact to counties that have relevant personnel is anticipated. The impact would be associated with extending salary continuation for a line of duty injury or illness and with having other staff cover essential functions of employees on light duty.
