| 11 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 504.513, Transportation Code, is amended | |
| 12 | 11 | by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | |
| 13 | 12 | follows: | |
| 14 | 13 | (a) The department shall issue specialty license plates | |
| 15 | 14 | for: | |
| 16 | 15 | (1) current or retired volunteer firefighters | |
| 17 | 16 | certified by: | |
| 18 | 17 | (A) the Texas Commission on Fire Protection; or | |
| 19 | 18 | (B) the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' | |
| 20 | - | Association of Texas; | |

| 21 | 20 | (2) current or retired fire protection personnel as | |
| 22 | - | that term is defined by Section 419.021, Government Code; and | |

| 30 | 26 | deposited to that account may be used only by the Texas Commission | |
| 31 | 27 | on Fire Protection to make grants to an organization of | |
| 32 | 28 | professional firefighters located in this state that provides | |
| 33 | 29 | emergency relief and scholarship funds to professional | |
| 34 | 30 | firefighters and their dependents. | |
| 35 | 31 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
