| 13 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 9 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 437.007, Government Code, |

| 15 | 10 | | is amended to read as follows: |

| 16 | 11 | | Sec. 437.007. ENLISTMENT AND APPOINTMENT; NOTICE. |

| 17 | 12 | | SECTION 2. Section 437.007, Government Code, is amended by |

| 18 | 13 | | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |

| 19 | 14 | | (c) Before an individual may enlist in or accept an |

| 20 | 15 | | appointment with the Texas National Guard, the individual shall |
|---|
| 21 | 16 | | sign the following written notice that is printed in 24-point |
|---|
| 22 | 17 | | bold-faced type: |

| 23 | 18 | | BY JOINING THE TEXAS NATIONAL GUARD I UNDERSTAND THAT I MAY BE |

| 24 | 19 | | CALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY BY THE PRESIDENT TO SERVE ON ACTIVE COMBAT |

| 25 | 20 | | DUTY IN A WAR DECLARED BY AN ACT OF CONGRESS OR IN ANOTHER ARMED |

| 26 | 21 | | CONFLICT AS ORDERED BY THE PRESIDENT. ACTIVE COMBAT DUTY MAY |
