| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 418.1925 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 418.1925. WIRELESS EMERGENCY ALERTS. As soon as | |
| 13 | 13 | possible after the governor declares a statewide state of disaster, | |
| 14 | 14 | the Department of Public Safety shall request that the Federal | |
| 15 | 15 | Emergency Management Agency notify residents of this state of the | |
| 16 | 16 | disaster by issuing a wireless emergency alert to their mobile | |
| 17 | 17 | devices. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
