A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the issuance of a wireless emergency alert after a
statewide disaster declaration.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 418.1925 to read as follows:
Sec. 418.1925. WIRELESS EMERGENCY ALERTS. As soon as
possible after the governor declares a statewide state of disaster,
the Department of Public Safety shall request that the Federal
Emergency Management Agency notify residents of this state of the
disaster by issuing a wireless emergency alert to their mobile
devices.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
