| 8 | 14 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 15 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 1001, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 10 | 16 | | amended by adding Section 1001.1021 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 17 | | Sec. 1001.1021. INFORMATION RELATING TO STREET RACING. The |
|---|
| 12 | 18 | | commission by rule shall require that information relating to the |
|---|
| 13 | 19 | | dangers and consequences of street racing in violation of Section |
|---|
| 14 | 20 | | 545.420, Transportation Code, be included in the curriculum of each |
|---|
| 15 | 21 | | driver education and driving safety course. |
|---|
| 16 | 22 | | SECTION 2. (a) Not later than May 1, 2022, the Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 23 | | Commission of Licensing and Regulation shall adopt the rules |
|---|
| 18 | 24 | | required by Section 1001.1021, Education Code, as added by this |
|---|
| 19 | 25 | | Act. |
|---|
| 20 | 26 | | (b) Not later than September 1, 2022, each provider of a |
|---|
| 21 | 27 | | driver education course or a driving safety course shall certify to |
|---|
| 22 | 28 | | the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation that the course |
|---|
| 23 | 29 | | curriculum has been updated to include the information required by |
|---|
| 24 | 30 | | Section 1001.1021, Education Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 25 | 31 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
