| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 201.6012, Transportation Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 201.6012. COORDINATION OF STATEWIDE PASSENGER RAIL | |
| 13 | 13 | SYSTEM. (a) To facilitate the development and interconnectivity | |
| 14 | 14 | of rail systems in this state, the department shall coordinate | |
| 15 | 15 | activities regarding the planning, construction, operation, and | |
| 16 | 16 | maintenance of a statewide passenger rail system. The department | |
| 17 | 17 | shall coordinate with other entities involved with passenger rail | |
| 18 | 18 | systems, including governmental entities, private entities, and | |
| 19 | 19 | nonprofit corporations. | |
| 20 | 20 | (b) A statewide passenger rail system described by | |
| 21 | 21 | Subsection (a) does not include high-speed rail as defined by | |
| 22 | 22 | Section 112.201. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
