105 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
116 AN ACT
127 relating to the use of the compensatory education allotment for
138 programs that build certain social and emotional skills.
149 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1510 SECTION 1. Section 48.104(j-1), Education Code, is amended
1611 to read as follows:
1712 (j-1) In addition to other purposes for which funds
1813 allocated under this section may be used, those funds may also be
1914 used to:
2015 (1) provide child-care services or assistance with
2116 child-care expenses for students at risk of dropping out of school
2217 under[, as described by] Section 29.081(d) because the students are
2318 parents [29.081(d)(5)]; [or]
2419 (2) pay the costs associated with services provided
2520 through a life skills program in accordance with Sections
2621 29.085(b)(1) and (3)-(7); or
2722 (3) provide programs that build skills related to
2823 managing emotions, establishing and maintaining positive
2924 relationships, and making responsible decisions.
3025 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3126 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3227 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3328 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3429 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
