| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Utilities Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 39.110 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 39.110. APPLICATION FOR NEW CUSTOMERS OF RETAIL | |
| 13 | 13 | ELECTRIC PROVIDERS. (a) The commission shall develop a standard | |
| 14 | 14 | application for use by a person applying to become a customer of a | |
| 15 | 15 | retail electric provider. | |
| 16 | 16 | (b) The commission shall publish the standard application | |
| 17 | 17 | on: | |
| 18 | 18 | (1) the commission's Power to Choose Internet website; | |
| 19 | 19 | and | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) the commission's Internet website. | |
| 21 | 21 | (c) A retail electric provider may not require a person to | |
| 22 | 22 | use an application other than the standard application to become a | |
| 23 | 23 | customer of the provider. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
