A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a standard application for new customers of retail
electric providers.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Utilities Code, is
amended by adding Section 39.110 to read as follows:
Sec. 39.110. APPLICATION FOR NEW CUSTOMERS OF RETAIL
ELECTRIC PROVIDERS. (a) The commission shall develop a standard
application for use by a person applying to become a customer of a
retail electric provider.
(b) The commission shall publish the standard application
on:
(1) the commission's Power to Choose Internet website;
and
(2) the commission's Internet website.
(c) A retail electric provider may not require a person to
use an application other than the standard application to become a
customer of the provider.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
