A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the appointment of poll watchers.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 33.005(a), Election Code, is amended to
read as follows:
(a) In an election on a measure, watchers may be appointed
by:
(1) the campaign treasurer or an assistant campaign
treasurer of a specific-purpose political committee that supports
or opposes the measure; or
(2) a county or state party chair.
SECTION 2. Section 33.006, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
(d) A certificate of appointment may be completed
electronically, including the signature of the appointing
authority.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
