| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 8404.001, Special District Local Laws | |
| 11 | 11 | Code, is amended by adding Subdivision (1-a) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (1-a) "City" means the City of Roman Forest, Texas. | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 8404, Special District | |
| 14 | 14 | Local Laws Code, is amended by adding Section 8404.005 to read as | |
| 15 | 15 | follows: | |
| 16 | 16 | Sec. 8404.005. EFFECT OF ANNEXATION. Notwithstanding any | |
| 17 | 17 | other law, if all or any part of the territory of the district is | |
| 18 | 18 | annexed by the city into the city's corporate limits, the district | |
| 19 | 19 | retains all of the district's outstanding debt and obligations and | |
| 20 | 20 | is not dissolved. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 22 | 22 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 23 | 23 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 24 | 24 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 25 | 25 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
