A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the effect of municipal annexation of territory in the
Roman Forest Public Utility District No. 3.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 8404.001, Special District Local Laws
Code, is amended by adding Subdivision (1-a) to read as follows:
(1-a) "City" means the City of Roman Forest, Texas.
SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 8404, Special District
Local Laws Code, is amended by adding Section 8404.005 to read as
follows:
Sec. 8404.005. EFFECT OF ANNEXATION. Notwithstanding any
other law, if all or any part of the territory of the district is
annexed by the city into the city's corporate limits, the district
retains all of the district's outstanding debt and obligations and
is not dissolved.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
