411 AN ACT
512 relating to the creation of criminal offenses involving elections.
613 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
714 SECTION 1. Chapter 276, Election Code, is amended by adding
815 Section 276.014 to read as follows:
916 Sec. 276.014. OTHER ELECTION OFFENSES. (a) A person
1017 commits an offense if the person knowingly or intentionally makes
1118 any effort to:
1219 (1) count votes the person knows are invalid or alter a
1320 report to include votes the person knows are invalid; or
14- (2) refuse to count votes the person knows are valid or
15- alter a report to exclude votes the person knows are valid.
21+ (2) refuse to count valid votes or alter a report to
22+ exclude valid votes.
1623 (b) An offense under this section is a felony of the second
1724 degree.
1825 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
