411 AN ACT
512 relating to notice of a modification to the medical certification
613 information on certain death certificates.
714 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
815 SECTION 1. This Act may be cited as Marilyn's Law.
916 SECTION 2. Chapter 193, Health and Safety Code, is amended
1017 by adding Section 193.012 to read as follows:
1118 Sec. 193.012. NOTICE OF CERTAIN DEATH CERTIFICATE
1219 AMENDMENTS. For a death certificate that is not a pending death
1320 certificate, a person who submits to the department a request for an
1421 amendment to modify the medical certification information on the
1522 certificate shall provide in the manner prescribed by the
1623 department written notice of the modification to a decedent's next
1724 of kin.
1825 SECTION 3. Section 193.012, Health and Safety Code, as
1926 added by this Act, applies only to a death certificate for which an
2027 amendment to modify the medical certification information is
2128 requested on or after the effective date of this Act.
2229 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
