9+ A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
410 AN ACT
511 relating to the eligibility of emergency service dispatchers to
612 participate in a public safety employees treatment court program.
713 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
814 SECTION 1. Section 129.001, Government Code, is amended to
915 read as follows:
1016 Sec. 129.001. DEFINITION. In this chapter, "public safety
1117 employee" means a peace officer, firefighter, detention officer,
1218 county jailer, [or] emergency medical services employee, or
1319 emergency service dispatcher of this state or a political
1420 subdivision of this state.
1521 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
1622 person who, on or after the effective date of this Act, enters a
1723 public safety employees treatment court program created under
1824 Chapter 129, Government Code, regardless of whether the person
1925 entering the program committed the offense for which the person
2026 enters the program before, on, or after the effective date of this
2127 Act.
2228 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
