10 | 11 | | born in Lubbock on August 28, 1957, and he grew up with a sister, |

11 | 12 | | Camille; he attended Texas Tech University and completed his |

12 | 13 | | bachelor's degree in government at The University of Texas at |

13 | 14 | | Austin; after working at the Capitol for then-state representative |
---|
14 | 15 | | George Pierce, he was hired by Texaco as a state government affairs |
---|
15 | 16 | | representative; he went on to lead government affairs for Altura |
---|
16 | 17 | | Energy and then represented Texaco again as head of his own firm, |
---|
17 | 18 | | Perry and Associates; following Texaco's merger with the Chevron |
---|
18 | 19 | | Corporation in 2004, he became Chevron's state government affairs |
---|
19 | 20 | | manager and guided a team advocating for the company in New Mexico, |
---|
20 | 21 | | Colorado, and Oklahoma, as well as Texas; and |

21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Perry took on leadership roles in charitable |

22 | 23 | | endeavors, as well as trade associations; his affable manner and |

23 | 24 | | thoughtful, caring nature brought him numerous warm friendships in |

24 | 25 | | professional circles and with people he met from all walks of life; |
---|
25 | 26 | | an attentive listener, he always stood ready to provide |
---|
26 | 27 | | encouragement, consolation, or sage advice; following the death of |

27 | 28 | | his sister, he stepped in to help his niece, Katherine, and he |

28 | 29 | | continued to play a significant role in her life; he was an |
---|
29 | 30 | | enthusiastic music fan and patron, and he loved to include friends |

30 | 31 | | in his fun at music festivals, Austin City Limits tapings, the |

31 | 32 | | opera, and other events; in addition, he was an avid golfer for more |

32 | 33 | | than 45 years; and |

33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Steve Perry possessed a generosity of spirit that |

34 | 35 | | expressed itself in myriad ways, and he enriched the lives of all |

35 | 36 | | who were fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now, |
