 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris
 marked their 100th day in office on April 29, 2021, and this
 occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize their
 accomplishments; and
 WHEREAS, On January 20, 2021, President Biden and Vice
 President Harris took office in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic;
 in response to the crisis, their administration formulated and
 obtained legislative approval of the American Rescue Plan, which
 has funded a national vaccination program that has already
 delivered more than 220 million vaccine doses to the public and
 reduced senior deaths from COVID-19 by 80 percent; the plan has
 addressed the economic impact of the pandemic as well, providing
 individuals in need with a range of assistance, including stimulus
 checks that will benefit 85 percent of U.S. households, a reduction
 in health care premiums under the Affordable Care Act, and measures
 that seek to alleviate child poverty; and
 WHEREAS, The strong emphasis the administration has placed on
 the economy has already shown positive results; more than 1.3
 million new jobs have been created since President Biden and Vice
 President Harris took office, a record-setting number when compared
 to the first 100 days of any other administration; moreover, the
 president and vice president have advocated for a number of
 initiatives to further support American workers and strengthen the
 business sector, such as raising the minimum wage, protecting the
 right to unionize, ensuring equal pay for women, reforming
 corporate taxes, and standing up to unfair trade practices around
 the globe; they have also developed the American Jobs Plan, which is
 focused on creating additional employment by funding public
 infrastructure improvements and facilitating technological and
 medical research; and
 WHEREAS, Another key legislative proposal put forth in the
 opening months of the administration is the American Families Plan,
 which aims to improve access to education, child care, and health
 care while extending tax credits for those raising children; in
 addition, President Biden and Vice President Harris have worked to
 address numerous other pressing issues affecting the nation,
 including climate change, voting rights, inequality, immigration,
 and gun violence; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of 100 days, Joe Biden and Kamala
 Harris have made a meaningful difference in the lives of their
 fellow Americans, and their accomplishments have built a solid
 foundation for further progress in the years ahead; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature hereby honor President Joe Biden and Vice President
 Kamala Harris for their achievements during their first 100 days in
 office and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for President Biden and Vice President Harris as an
 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
