| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Roel Benavides has ably served his fellow Texans as |

| 7 | 8 | | Safety Committee during the 87th Legislative Session; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Benavides has provided vital assistance to the |

| 9 | 10 | | committee's chair, State Representative James White, and its other |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | members as they have dealt with issues related to law enforcement, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | crime prevention, security services, and homeland security; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In performing his duties as committee director, |

| 13 | 14 | | Mr. Benavides has drawn on a wealth of experience with both the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | house and the senate; he has previously served as a legislative |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | aide, a legislative director, and an assistant clerk for the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Corrections Committee; moreover, he has worked on campaigns for the |

| 17 | 18 | | Texas House and for the U.S. Congress; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Greater Houston area, |

| 19 | 20 | | Mr. Benavides first took an interest in politics while in high |

| 20 | 21 | | school; he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston |

| 21 | 22 | | with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2014, and that same |

| 22 | 23 | | year, he began his career with the Texas Legislature as an intern; |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through his skill, professionalism, and commitment |

| 25 | 26 | | to excellence, Roel Benavides has made significant contributions to |

| 26 | 27 | | the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, and he is indeed |

| 27 | 28 | | deserving of recognition for his outstanding record of achievement; |
