H.R. No. 1524 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Roel Benavides has ably served his fellow Texans as committee director for the House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee during the 87th Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, Mr. Benavides has provided vital assistance to the committee's chair, State Representative James White, and its other members as they have dealt with issues related to law enforcement, crime prevention, security services, and homeland security; and WHEREAS, In performing his duties as committee director, Mr. Benavides has drawn on a wealth of experience with both the house and the senate; he has previously served as a legislative aide, a legislative director, and an assistant clerk for the Corrections Committee; moreover, he has worked on campaigns for the Texas House and for the U.S. Congress; and WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Greater Houston area, Mr. Benavides first took an interest in politics while in high school; he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2014, and that same year, he began his career with the Texas Legislature as an intern; and WHEREAS, Through his skill, professionalism, and commitment to excellence, Roel Benavides has made significant contributions to the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for his outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby commend Roel Benavides for his service as committee director for the House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee in the office of State Representative James White and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Benavides as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
