| 10 | 11 | | academic achievement, student behavior, and school climate; its |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | annual Schools of Character designations honor institutions that |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | have exemplified Character.org's 11 Principles Framework, which |

| 13 | 14 | | includes providing students with opportunities for moral action, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | promoting a sense of shared leadership, and engaging families and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | communities; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Part of a statewide public charter school system |

| 17 | 18 | | that serves youth in prekindergarten through the 12th grade, |

| 18 | 19 | | HSS-Houston is one of only 47 campuses from across the nation to be |

| 19 | 20 | | chosen as a 2021 National School of Character; alongside a |

| 20 | 21 | | curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering, and math, |

| 21 | 22 | | the school teaches character education, which encourages students |

| 22 | 23 | | to develop and practice such traits as respect, responsibility, |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, By creating a learning environment that emphasizes |

| 25 | 26 | | positive values and personal growth, HSS-Houston is providing |
