 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
 of Luis Angel Gomez Sr. of Rio Grande City, who passed away on March
 3, 2021, at the age of 73; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Dominga Garza and adoptive parents
 Nicolas and Benita Gomez, Luis Gomez was born on August 2, 1947, in
 Comales, Tamaulipas, Mexico; he graduated from Rio Grande City High
 School in 1966 and attended the McAllen Business School and Pan
 American College; and
 WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Gomez
 enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and went on to serve for 14 years;
 in his civilian life, he worked for an appliance store, two
 distributing companies, and the Rio Grande City Consolidated
 Independent School District before embarking on a career with the
 American National Insurance Company that spanned more than two
 decades; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Gomez enjoyed the love and
 support of his wife, the former Maria Edelmira Olivarez, and he took
 great pride in their children, Laura, Luis, Mario, and Jorge, and
 their eight grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Charming and funny, Luis Gomez lived a full and
 generous life, and he leaves behind a record of service that his
 loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Luis Angel Gomez Sr.
 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Maria Edelmira Gomez; to his children, Laura Lisa Garza and
 her husband, Benjamin, Luis Angel Gomez Jr. and his wife, Dennise,
 Mario Alberto Gomez, and Jorge Eduardo Gomez; to his grandchildren,
 Daniel, Mario, Jaiden, Sebastien, Isaac, Layla, Jacob, and Luis
 Angel; to his brothers, JC "Temo" Gomez and Dagoberto Lopez and his
 wife, Thelma; to his cousin, Umbelina Reyna and her husband,
 Sylvestre; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Luis Gomez.
