| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Certified registered nurse anesthetists are highly |

| 9 | 10 | | trained specialist nurses who play an essential role in our health |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | care system; nurse anesthetists were the first professional health |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | care workers to provide anesthesia in the United States, and they |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | comprise the oldest recognized group of advanced-practice |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | registered nurse specialists in the country; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Nurse anesthetists work across a broad spectrum of |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | medical settings, and they administer anesthetics to millions of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | patients each year; their expertise is an essential element of care |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | in traditional surgical environments as well as in a wide range of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | other medical facilities, including numerous general practice |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | offices and specialty clinics; as licensed professionals, they are |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | authorized to independently administer anesthesia care, and they |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | serve as the primary or sole anesthesia providers in many rural |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | areas and at many military bases, hospitals, and other facilities; |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Texas is home to nearly 5,000 certified registered |

| 25 | 26 | | nurse anesthetists who have devoted their careers to serving the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | citizens of the Lone Star State, and they are indeed deserving of |

| 27 | 28 | | special commendation; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby recognize January 24-30, 2021, as National |
