 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The recognition of January 24-30, 2021, as National
 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists Week is a fitting tribute
 to the contributions of these vital medical professionals; and
 WHEREAS, Certified registered nurse anesthetists are highly
 trained specialist nurses who play an essential role in our health
 care system; nurse anesthetists were the first professional health
 care workers to provide anesthesia in the United States, and they
 comprise the oldest recognized group of advanced-practice
 registered nurse specialists in the country; and
 WHEREAS, Nurse anesthetists work across a broad spectrum of
 medical settings, and they administer anesthetics to millions of
 patients each year; their expertise is an essential element of care
 in traditional surgical environments as well as in a wide range of
 other medical facilities, including numerous general practice
 offices and specialty clinics; as licensed professionals, they are
 authorized to independently administer anesthesia care, and they
 serve as the primary or sole anesthesia providers in many rural
 areas and at many military bases, hospitals, and other facilities;
 and
 WHEREAS, Texas is home to nearly 5,000 certified registered
 nurse anesthetists who have devoted their careers to serving the
 citizens of the Lone Star State, and they are indeed deserving of
 special commendation; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize January 24-30, 2021, as National
 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists Week and extend sincere
 appreciation to all those who serve as certified registered nurse
 anesthetists in Texas for the important role they play in providing
 quality health care.
