| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Jerry John Hernandez III of |

| 6 | 7 | | Aubrey on January 1, 2021, at the age of 29, has brought an |

| 7 | 8 | | unimaginable loss to the family, friends, and colleagues of this |

| 8 | 9 | | beloved young man; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in Mesquite on May 2, 1991, to Kimberly and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Jerry John Hernandez, Jerry Hernandez grew up with the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | companionship of two brothers, Jacob and Dylan; he attended |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Hardin-Simmons University on a football scholarship and enjoyed a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | four-year playing career at the school; after graduating, he |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | entered the field of banking and went on to become a vice president |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | at JPMorgan Chase; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Through hard work, ambition, and skill, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Mr. Hernandez was able to accomplish much at a young age and earn |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the respect and admiration of his senior colleagues; he also |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | believed strongly in the importance of giving back and being a |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | positive influence on others, which led him to serve as a youth |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | mentor through JPMorgan Chase's community outreach program; he |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | found great fulfillment in his volunteer work in the program, and he |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | was overjoyed to see his mentee benefit from his support and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | encouragement; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez cherished his family and strove to |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | make them proud; he was blessed with the love and support of his |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | girlfriend, Erica Theriot, and the relationship they shared was a |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | source of much happiness to him; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although his passing leaves a tremendous void, those |

| 30 | 31 | | fortunate enough to have known Jerry Hernandez will forever |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | remember his enthusiasm for life, his unwavering devotion to his |

| 32 | 33 | | family, and his passion for helping others; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jerry John |
