H.R. No. 238 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Jerry John Hernandez III of Aubrey on January 1, 2021, at the age of 29, has brought an unimaginable loss to the family, friends, and colleagues of this beloved young man; and WHEREAS, Born in Mesquite on May 2, 1991, to Kimberly and Jerry John Hernandez, Jerry Hernandez grew up with the companionship of two brothers, Jacob and Dylan; he attended Hardin-Simmons University on a football scholarship and enjoyed a four-year playing career at the school; after graduating, he entered the field of banking and went on to become a vice president at JPMorgan Chase; and WHEREAS, Through hard work, ambition, and skill, Mr. Hernandez was able to accomplish much at a young age and earn the respect and admiration of his senior colleagues; he also believed strongly in the importance of giving back and being a positive influence on others, which led him to serve as a youth mentor through JPMorgan Chase's community outreach program; he found great fulfillment in his volunteer work in the program, and he was overjoyed to see his mentee benefit from his support and encouragement; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez cherished his family and strove to make them proud; he was blessed with the love and support of his girlfriend, Erica Theriot, and the relationship they shared was a source of much happiness to him; and WHEREAS, Although his passing leaves a tremendous void, those fortunate enough to have known Jerry Hernandez will forever remember his enthusiasm for life, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his passion for helping others; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jerry John Hernandez III and extend heartfelt condolences to his loved ones: to his parents, Kimberly and Jerry Hernandez; to his brothers, Jacob Hernandez and Dylan Lueking; to his girlfriend, Erica Theriot; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jerry John Hernandez III.
