| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Kenneth James Hayes of Cross Roads on November 6, 2018, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ken Hayes was born to Olene Thomas and Kermitt Hayes |

| 9 | 10 | | on August 9, 1958, in Dallas; a graduate of Henderson County Junior |

| 10 | 11 | | College, he spent his early career working for the Texas Utilities |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Mining Company in Fairfield, and he went on to find further success |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | building houses for Hayes & Company Custom Homes; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Hayes worked to improve |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the lives of Henderson County residents through his role as the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | commissioner for Precinct 1, and he also served as a member of the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | National Soil and Water Conservation Board and as president of the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Post Oak Cemetery Association; moreover, he was a valued congregant |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | of First Baptist Church in Malakoff; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hayes shared a rewarding family life with his |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | wife, Joyce, and his children, Kristi, Josh, Jenni, and Katie, and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | he took great pride in his 10 grandchildren, Megan, Allie, Kyler, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Paige, Kinleigh, Loden, Lukas, Seth, Ady, and Jace; in his leisure |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | time, he enjoyed ranching and trail riding with his friends; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Ken Hayes was a devoted family man and a significant |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | asset to his community, and his commitment to his loved ones and to |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | his fellow citizens will be remembered and admired for years to |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | come; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Kenneth James Hayes |

| 30 | 31 | | and extend sincere sympathy to his family and friends; and, be it |
