H.R. No. 301 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed cause for celebration, and Janie Hernandez of Houston is marking this momentous milestone in her life on March 13, 2021; and WHEREAS, A Bayou City native, Janie Hernandez was born in 1931; she married Joe Hernandez Sr., and they were blessed with five daughters and three sons; through the years, their treasured family has grown to include 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hernandez worked for Oshman's Sporting Goods for three decades before her retirement in 1996; active in her community, she is a valued member of the senior citizens group at the Ripley House neighborhood center; she is always dressed to impress at any gathering; and WHEREAS, Above all, Mrs. Hernandez is devoted to her family, and she looks forward to monthly mother-daughter weekends; she spoils her relatives with her delicious cooking, and she loves to dance, sing, travel, and go fishing; when relaxing at home, she likes to catch Wheel of Fortune or Westerns; John Wayne and Tom Selleck rank among her favorite actors, and she has also enjoyed watching news anchors Marvin Zindler and David Muir on television; and WHEREAS, Janie Hernandez has long been a source of joy, wisdom, and inspiration to all who are privileged to know her, and it is a pleasure to join her friends and loved ones in honoring her on this memorable occasion; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Janie Hernandez on her 90th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Hernandez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
