| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Early College High School in Farmers Branch has been |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created |

| 10 | 11 | | by the U.S. Department of Education in 1982 to recognize campuses |

| 11 | 12 | | that have demonstrated superior academic performance or made |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | notable progress in improving outcomes among economically |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | disadvantaged students; Early College High was one of only 367 |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | public and private schools nationwide and 28 schools in Texas to |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | have earned this impressive honor in 2020; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Early College High School, which is housed on Dallas |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | College's Brookhaven Campus, enrolls approximately 340 students in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | grades 9 through 12; as part of the Texas High School Project, ECHS |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | students have the opportunity to earn an associate degree from |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Dallas College while working toward their high school diploma; last |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | year, over 80 percent of the school's graduating class received an |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | associate of arts or science degree, and graduating seniors were |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | awarded a collective sum of more than $8 million in scholarship |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | funds; moreover, ECHS was previously named a National Blue Ribbon |

| 25 | 26 | | School in 2014; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Through hard work and perseverance, the teachers and |

| 27 | 28 | | students of Early College High School have established a record of |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | scholastic excellence, and their outstanding efforts have been duly |

| 29 | 30 | | recognized with the Blue Ribbon School award; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Early College High School in |

| 32 | 33 | | Farmers Branch on its selection as a 2020 National Blue Ribbon |
