H.R. No. 398 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Corpus Christi lost an admired civic leader with the passing of Anita Louise Holt Eisenhauer on December 21, 2019, at the age of 77; and WHEREAS, The descendant of early settlers of the Texas Panhandle, the former Anita Holt was born to Ora Calvin Holt and Louise Rorex Holt in Amarillo on February 27, 1942; she completed her bachelor's degree in history at The University of Texas at Austin and her master's degree in history at Texas A&I University; devoted to her family, she shared a rewarding marriage of 49 years with her husband, Gene Edmond Eisenhauer, until his passing, and she was the mother of two sons, William and George; she also took great pride in her grandchildren, David, Rachel, Isabella, and Louise; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Eisenhauer was a successful businesswoman and taught in the Corpus Christi Independent School District; history was her passion, and as chair of the Nueces County Historical Commission, she oversaw the application process for numerous Official Texas Historical Markers, often directing the research and writing the required narratives; she fought for the preservation of the 1914 Nueces County Courthouse and Old Bayview Cemetery, and she served as financial officer of the Friends of Old Bayview Cemetery Association and organized popular annual events at the site; a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for 50 years, she was regent of the Corpus Christi Chapter and chair of the Historic Preservation Committee of its Texas Society; she served in leadership roles with numerous other organizations as well, among them the Nueces County Historical Society, the Old Bayview Chapter of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812, and the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History; in 2019, she received the Spirit of Preservation award from the Corpus Christi Landmark Commission; and WHEREAS, Through her dedication to Texas history, Anita Eisenhauer enriched the lives of innumerable people, and she will be remembered with admiration and affection by all who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Anita Louise Holt Eisenhauer and extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Anita Louise Holt Eisenhauer.
