5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to |

6 | 7 | | a close with the passing of Jerry Lynn Bell of Leona on January 10, |

7 | 8 | | 2021, at the age of 77; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Leon County, Jerry Bell was born in |

9 | 10 | | Russell on May 2, 1943, to William and Mary Bell; he was raised with |
---|
10 | 11 | | the companionship of nine siblings, Wendell, Weldon, Frank, Cecil, |
---|
11 | 12 | | Wallace Ray, Roy, Mayme Pearl, Eva Ruth, and Mary Jo; and |
---|
12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Bell joined the U.S. Army and served with |
---|
13 | 14 | | distinction as a tanker and helicopter gunner during the Vietnam |
---|
14 | 15 | | War, receiving a number of commendations; he was stationed around |
---|
15 | 16 | | the world over the course of his military career, and he retired at |
---|
16 | 17 | | the rank of sergeant major; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, After returning home to Leon County, Mr. Bell became |
---|
18 | 19 | | the owner and operator of Bell Alley Gunsmithing; there, he spent |
---|
19 | 20 | | his days doing what he loved most, selling firearms and discussing |
---|
20 | 21 | | his conservative ideals; he was also employed by the B-5 |
---|
21 | 22 | | Construction Company and the U.S. Postal Service; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Bell shared a rewarding |
---|
23 | 24 | | marriage with his wife, Alice, and he took great pride in his four |
---|
24 | 25 | | children, Jerry, Harold, Kimberly, and Wendy, and his nine |
---|
25 | 26 | | grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and |
---|
26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, While the death of Jerry Bell brings great sadness |
---|
27 | 28 | | to his loved ones, those who were privileged to share in his love |
---|
28 | 29 | | and friendship will always remember him with great admiration and |

29 | 30 | | affection; now, therefore, be it |

30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
