45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
67 a close with the passing of Jerry Lynn Bell of Leona on January 10,
78 2021, at the age of 77; and
89 WHEREAS, A native of Leon County, Jerry Bell was born in
910 Russell on May 2, 1943, to William and Mary Bell; he was raised with
1011 the companionship of nine siblings, Wendell, Weldon, Frank, Cecil,
1112 Wallace Ray, Roy, Mayme Pearl, Eva Ruth, and Mary Jo; and
1213 WHEREAS, Mr. Bell joined the U.S. Army and served with
1314 distinction as a tanker and helicopter gunner during the Vietnam
1415 War, receiving a number of commendations; he was stationed around
1516 the world over the course of his military career, and he retired at
1617 the rank of sergeant major; and
1718 WHEREAS, After returning home to Leon County, Mr. Bell became
1819 the owner and operator of Bell Alley Gunsmithing; there, he spent
1920 his days doing what he loved most, selling firearms and discussing
2021 his conservative ideals; he was also employed by the B-5
2122 Construction Company and the U.S. Postal Service; and
2223 WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Bell shared a rewarding
2324 marriage with his wife, Alice, and he took great pride in his four
2425 children, Jerry, Harold, Kimberly, and Wendy, and his nine
2526 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and
2627 WHEREAS, While the death of Jerry Bell brings great sadness
2728 to his loved ones, those who were privileged to share in his love
2829 and friendship will always remember him with great admiration and
2930 affection; now, therefore, be it
3031 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3132 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jerry Lynn Bell and
3233 extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
3334 Alice Cothron Bell; to his sons, Jerry Lynn Bell Jr. and his wife,
3435 Terry, and Harold Bell and his wife, LaKeitha; to his daughters,
3536 Kimberly Michelle Payne and her husband, Steven, and Wendy Rachelle
3637 Baldwin and her husband, Edward; to his sister, Mary Jo McMillan; to
3738 his grandchildren, Brad, Brock, Brice, Joshua, Ryan, Blake, Aly,
3839 Tracer, and Joey; to his great-grandchildren; and to his other
3940 relatives and friends; and, be it further
4041 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4142 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4243 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jerry Bell.
