H.R. No. 51 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to a close with the passing of Jerry Lynn Bell of Leona on January 10, 2021, at the age of 77; and WHEREAS, A native of Leon County, Jerry Bell was born in Russell on May 2, 1943, to William and Mary Bell; he was raised with the companionship of nine siblings, Wendell, Weldon, Frank, Cecil, Wallace Ray, Roy, Mayme Pearl, Eva Ruth, and Mary Jo; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bell joined the U.S. Army and served with distinction as a tanker and helicopter gunner during the Vietnam War, receiving a number of commendations; he was stationed around the world over the course of his military career, and he retired at the rank of sergeant major; and WHEREAS, After returning home to Leon County, Mr. Bell became the owner and operator of Bell Alley Gunsmithing; there, he spent his days doing what he loved most, selling firearms and discussing his conservative ideals; he was also employed by the B-5 Construction Company and the U.S. Postal Service; and WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Bell shared a rewarding marriage with his wife, Alice, and he took great pride in his four children, Jerry, Harold, Kimberly, and Wendy, and his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, While the death of Jerry Bell brings great sadness to his loved ones, those who were privileged to share in his love and friendship will always remember him with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jerry Lynn Bell and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Alice Cothron Bell; to his sons, Jerry Lynn Bell Jr. and his wife, Terry, and Harold Bell and his wife, LaKeitha; to his daughters, Kimberly Michelle Payne and her husband, Steven, and Wendy Rachelle Baldwin and her husband, Edward; to his sister, Mary Jo McMillan; to his grandchildren, Brad, Brock, Brice, Joshua, Ryan, Blake, Aly, Tracer, and Joey; to his great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jerry Bell.
