5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dewey Douglas Stockbridge of Alpine, a respected |

6 | 7 | | biologist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, tragically |

7 | 8 | | passed away on August 8, 2020, at the age of 36; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Dewey Stockbridge was born in Fredericksburg on |
---|
9 | 10 | | November 16, 1983, to Randy and Connie Stockbridge and was raised |
---|
10 | 11 | | with a sister, Leslie; he was an outstanding student and athlete at |
---|
11 | 12 | | Mason High School, where he graduated in 2002, and he went on to |
---|
12 | 13 | | obtain a wildlife and fisheries sciences degree at Texas A&M |
---|
13 | 14 | | University in 2006; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Embarking on his career with the Texas Parks and |
---|
15 | 16 | | Wildlife Department in 2005, Mr. Stockbridge joined the Black Gap |
---|
16 | 17 | | Wildlife Management Area as a wildlife technician; passionate about |
---|
17 | 18 | | habitat restoration for the desert bighorn sheep of far West Texas, |
---|
18 | 19 | | he became deeply engaged in conservation efforts for the animals |
---|
19 | 20 | | and was promoted to wildlife biologist; eventually, he took on the |
---|
20 | 21 | | role of lead wildlife biologist for the Elephant Mountain Wildlife |
---|
21 | 22 | | Management Area, helping to return pronghorn and desert bighorn |
---|
22 | 23 | | sheep to their native range in the Trans-Pecos region; and |
---|
23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Stockbridge contributed to his professional |
---|
24 | 25 | | community as a member of the Texas Wildlife Association, the Texas |
---|
25 | 26 | | Bighorn Society, the Desert Bighorn Council, and the Wild Sheep and |

26 | 27 | | Mule Deer Foundations, among numerous other organizations; and |

27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Stockbridge enjoyed the |

28 | 29 | | love and support of his wife, the former Shannon Staudt, and their |
---|
29 | 30 | | children, Jameson and London; an avid hunter and angler, he passed |
---|
30 | 31 | | on his love of nature and the outdoors to his son and daughter; he |
---|
31 | 32 | | was also a valued member of the First United Methodist Church of |
---|
32 | 33 | | Mason; and |

33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Dewey Stockbridge was a significant asset to his |

34 | 35 | | community and to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and his |

35 | 36 | | commitment to conservation and wildlife restoration will be |

36 | 37 | | remembered and admired for years to come; now, therefore, be it |
---|
37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
---|
38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dewey Douglas |

39 | 40 | | Stockbridge and extend sincere condolences to the members of his |
---|
40 | 41 | | family: to his wife, Shannon Stockbridge; to his son, Jameson |

41 | 42 | | Stockbridge; to his daughter, London Stockbridge; to his parents, |

42 | 43 | | Randy and Connie Stockbridge; to his sister, Leslie Becker, and her |

43 | 44 | | husband, Travis; to his niece, Aubrey Joy Becker; to his father- and |
