45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Dewey Douglas Stockbridge of Alpine, a respected
67 biologist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, tragically
78 passed away on August 8, 2020, at the age of 36; and
89 WHEREAS, Dewey Stockbridge was born in Fredericksburg on
910 November 16, 1983, to Randy and Connie Stockbridge and was raised
1011 with a sister, Leslie; he was an outstanding student and athlete at
1112 Mason High School, where he graduated in 2002, and he went on to
1213 obtain a wildlife and fisheries sciences degree at Texas A&M
1314 University in 2006; and
1415 WHEREAS, Embarking on his career with the Texas Parks and
1516 Wildlife Department in 2005, Mr. Stockbridge joined the Black Gap
1617 Wildlife Management Area as a wildlife technician; passionate about
1718 habitat restoration for the desert bighorn sheep of far West Texas,
1819 he became deeply engaged in conservation efforts for the animals
1920 and was promoted to wildlife biologist; eventually, he took on the
2021 role of lead wildlife biologist for the Elephant Mountain Wildlife
2122 Management Area, helping to return pronghorn and desert bighorn
2223 sheep to their native range in the Trans-Pecos region; and
2324 WHEREAS, Mr. Stockbridge contributed to his professional
2425 community as a member of the Texas Wildlife Association, the Texas
2526 Bighorn Society, the Desert Bighorn Council, and the Wild Sheep and
2627 Mule Deer Foundations, among numerous other organizations; and
2728 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Stockbridge enjoyed the
2829 love and support of his wife, the former Shannon Staudt, and their
2930 children, Jameson and London; an avid hunter and angler, he passed
3031 on his love of nature and the outdoors to his son and daughter; he
3132 was also a valued member of the First United Methodist Church of
3233 Mason; and
3334 WHEREAS, Dewey Stockbridge was a significant asset to his
3435 community and to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and his
3536 commitment to conservation and wildlife restoration will be
3637 remembered and admired for years to come; now, therefore, be it
3738 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3839 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dewey Douglas
3940 Stockbridge and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
4041 family: to his wife, Shannon Stockbridge; to his son, Jameson
4142 Stockbridge; to his daughter, London Stockbridge; to his parents,
4243 Randy and Connie Stockbridge; to his sister, Leslie Becker, and her
4344 husband, Travis; to his niece, Aubrey Joy Becker; to his father- and
4445 mother-in-law, Eddie and Peggy Staudt; and to his many other
4546 relatives, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
4647 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4748 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4849 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dewey
4950 Stockbridge.
