H.R. No. 935
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. Denny D. Davis Sr. of St. John Church in Grand
Prairie is being honored by his congregation in May 2021 in
recognition of his 30th pastoral anniversary; and
WHEREAS, After serving at Mount Rose Baptist Church in
Dallas, this esteemed clergyman became the senior pastor at
St. John Church on May 5, 1991; under his leadership, the church has
experienced tremendous growth, gaining many new members as well as
establishing a wide variety of new ministries over the past three
decades; in order to address the needs of this thriving
congregation, Pastor Davis has overseen a number of renovation and
expansion projects to the Grand Prairie campus, and he was
instrumental in the creation of a second campus in Southlake; and
WHEREAS, A native of Champaign, Illinois, Pastor Davis holds
a bachelor's degree in religion from Bishop College, a master's
degree in theology from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian
University, and a doctorate from Georgetown College, and he is also
an alumnus of the University of Oxford; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Davis has long set an inspiring example of
faith in action, and the members of his congregation have greatly
benefited from his wise counsel and spiritual guidance; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Denny D. Davis Sr. on his 30th
pastoral anniversary at St. John Church and extend to him sincere
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Pastor Davis as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
