| 8 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 11 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 28.010, Education Code, |
|---|
| 10 | 12 | | is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 13 | | Sec. 28.010. NOTIFICATION REGARDING COLLEGE CREDIT AND |
|---|
| 12 | 14 | | WORK-BASED EDUCATION PROGRAMS. |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | SECTION 2. Section 28.010(a), Education Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | (a) Each school year, a school district shall notify the |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | parent of each district student enrolled in grade nine or above of: |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | (1) the availability of: |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | (A) programs in the district under which a |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | student may earn college credit, including advanced placement |
|---|
| 20 | 22 | | programs, dual credit programs, joint high school and college |
|---|
| 21 | 23 | | credit programs, and international baccalaureate programs; |
|---|
| 22 | 24 | | (B) career and technology education programs or |
|---|
| 23 | 25 | | other work-based education programs in the district, including any |
|---|
| 24 | 26 | | internship, externship, or apprenticeship programs or a P-TECH |
|---|
| 25 | 27 | | program under Subchapter N, Chapter 29; and |
|---|
| 26 | 28 | | (C) subsidies based on financial need available |
|---|
| 27 | 29 | | for fees paid to take college advanced placement tests or |
|---|
| 28 | 30 | | international baccalaureate examinations under Section 28.054; and |
|---|
| 29 | 31 | | (2) the qualifications for enrolling in programs |
|---|
| 30 | 32 | | described by Subdivision (1)(A) or (B). |
|---|
| 31 | 33 | | SECTION 3. This Act applies beginning with the 2021-2022 |
|---|
| 32 | 34 | | school year. |
|---|
| 33 | 35 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 34 | 36 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 35 | 37 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 36 | 38 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 37 | 39 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
