57 relating to the compensation of the presiding judge of an early
68 ballot voting board.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Section 87.005, Election Code, is amended to
911 read as follows:
1012 Sec. 87.005. COMPENSATION OF MEMBERS. (a) Members of the
1113 early voting ballot board are entitled to the same compensation as
1214 presiding election judges, except that:
1315 (1) the presiding judge may be compensated at a higher
1416 rate at the discretion of the appropriate authority; and
1517 (2) if [as provided by Subsection (b).
1618 [(b) If] the board concludes its work in less than 10 hours,
1719 the members may be paid greater compensation than that regularly
1820 payable for the amount of time worked, but not to exceed the amount
1921 payable for 10 hours' work.
2022 (b) [(c)] Precinct officers serving as board members under
2123 Section 87.004 may not be compensated for both positions.
2224 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
