66 AN ACT
77 relating to the name of the statewide alert system for certain
88 missing adults.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. This Act honors the victims of violence whose
1111 lives and stories led to the passage into law of the CLEAR Alert for
1212 Missing Adults: Cayley Mandadi, D'Lisa Kelley, Erin Castro, Ashanti
1313 Billie, and the rest.
1414 SECTION 2. The heading to Subchapter Q, Chapter 411,
1515 Government Code, as added by Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the
1616 86th Legislature, Regular Session, 2019, is amended to read as
1717 follows:
1818 SUBCHAPTER Q. COORDINATED LAW ENFORCEMENT ADULT RESCUE (CLEAR)
1919 ALERT FOR MISSING ADULTS
2020 SECTION 3. Section 411.461(2), Government Code, as added by
2121 Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the 86th Legislature, Regular
2222 Session, 2019, is amended to read as follows:
2323 (2) "Alert" means the statewide Coordinated Law
2424 Enforcement Adult Rescue (CLEAR) alert for missing adults that is
2525 developed and implemented under this subchapter.
2626 SECTION 4. The heading to Section 411.462, Government Code,
2727 as added by Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the 86th Legislature,
2828 Regular Session, 2019, is amended to read as follows:
2929 Sec. 411.462. COORDINATED LAW ENFORCEMENT ADULT RESCUE
3030 (CLEAR) ALERT FOR MISSING ADULTS.
3131 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3232 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3333 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3434 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3535 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
