87R8048 JCG-D By: Taylor S.B. No. 1462 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to the name of the statewide alert system for certain missing adults. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. This Act honors the victims of violence whose lives and stories led to the passage into law of the CLEAR Alert for Missing Adults: Cayley Mandadi, D'Lisa Kelley, Erin Castro, Ashanti Billie, and the rest. SECTION 2. The heading to Subchapter Q, Chapter 411, Government Code, as added by Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the 86th Legislature, Regular Session, 2019, is amended to read as follows: SUBCHAPTER Q. COORDINATED LAW ENFORCEMENT ADULT RESCUE (CLEAR) ALERT FOR MISSING ADULTS SECTION 3. Section 411.461(2), Government Code, as added by Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the 86th Legislature, Regular Session, 2019, is amended to read as follows: (2) "Alert" means the statewide Coordinated Law Enforcement Adult Rescue (CLEAR) alert for missing adults that is developed and implemented under this subchapter. SECTION 4. The heading to Section 411.462, Government Code, as added by Chapter 227 (H.B. 1769), Acts of the 86th Legislature, Regular Session, 2019, is amended to read as follows: Sec. 411.462. COORDINATED LAW ENFORCEMENT ADULT RESCUE (CLEAR) ALERT FOR MISSING ADULTS. SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
