46 AN ACT
57 relating to certain equipment provided for use by the officers of
68 the Texas Highway Patrol.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
911 amended by adding Section 411.033 to read as follows:
1012 Sec. 411.033. CERTAIN EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES. The
1113 department shall equip all motor vehicles used by officers of the
1214 Texas Highway Patrol in discharging the officers' official duties
1315 with bullet-resistant windshields.
1416 SECTION 2. The Department of Public Safety is required to
1517 implement a provision of this Act only if the legislature
1618 appropriates money specifically for that purpose. If the
1719 legislature does not appropriate money specifically for that
1820 purpose, the Department of Public Safety may, but is not required
1921 to, implement a provision of this Act using other appropriations
2022 available for that purpose.
2123 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2224 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2325 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2426 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2527 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
