4	6		AN ACT
5	7		relating to approval for certain projects related to bridges over
6	8		the Rio Grande.
7	9		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
8	10		SECTION 1. Section 201.612, Transportation Code, is amended
9	11		by adding Subsection (h) to read as follows:
10	12		(h) A political subdivision is not required to comply with
11	13		Subsection (a) for a project that:
12	14		(1) is for the reconstruction, improvement,
13	15		expansion, or maintenance of an existing bridge; and
14	16		(2) has received approval from the United States under
15	17		33 U.S.C. Chapter 11, Subchapter IV (33 U.S.C. Section 535 et seq.),
16	18		authorizing the project.
17	19		SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
18	20		a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
19	21		provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
20	22		Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
21	23		Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
